WHY: Interest in cuisines from Latin America is growing as American tastes are becoming more international and exotic tropical fruits and vegetables unique to this region become available.
The Tropical Cooking School & Tour will provide you with the knowledge of traditional recipes and cooking techniques needed for adding authentic Latin American cuisine to your repertoire.
HOW: Each day of the program includes at least one cooking lesson or tour and one cultural or recreational activity. You will be taught by local instructors with ample opportunity for hands-on participation, supplemented by visits to local markets and farms to see the cultivation and processing of local crops. Your program will be enriched by local and cultural activities, many of which are only possible through our Tropical Cooking School.
WHERE: Guayabo Lodge, located 90 minutes east of San Jose in Santa Cruz de Turialba, will be the home base for your tour. This cozy lodge has an international clientele who are drawn to its scenery, tranquility and hospitality. There is a dedicated kitchen for your lessons, constructed so you can enjoy the breathtaking views of the mountains as you work and learn in this lodge which has been certified for its commitment to Sustainable Tourism.
